FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Hardwood Floor Refinishing?
Refinishing means sanding your floors down to bare wood, re-staining with the color of your choice, and applying polyurethane. If you prefer oil-based polyurethane, we will apply 2 coats and lightly sand between coats. With water-based poly, 3 coats are used with light sanding between coats 1 and 2 and scuffing between coats 2 and 3. Of course we “tack” (clean the dust) prior to each coat. This is the method most are familiar with. In only 2-4 days, you can have a finish that looks perfect. With our low prices, our hardwood floor refinishing services are our most affordable.
What is Hardwood Floor Resurfacing?

Resurfacing is our signature service that gently sands away light scratches, scuffs, ground-in dirt, and dullness. It neither diminishes the wood’s color nor excessively sands away its surface. This process can be used on any type of wood and is also our most cost-effective service. It starts at only 99¢ per square foot. Most projects can be completed in hours, rather than days.

I Have a Few Really Deep Scratches, Do I Need Resurfacing or Refinishing?
We’ll walk you through the benefits of each service to make sure you choose the right fit your wants and needs. A deep scratch here and there may not be a bad thing. Some folks call it character, some turn it into a story, some simply don’t see the “value added” with the added expense of removing the deep scars. If you have pets or children, then removing ALL scratches may very well be a temporary thing. Maybe resurfacing is the right direction, maybe all you need to do is to protect your long-term investment. Give us a call and we’ll help you with this. We will not push you into a service that you don’t need.
Can You Fix Warping?

Our refinishing service is capable of correcting some warping. You can view examples in our before and after gallery. Give us a call today to discuss your project needs to see if we can fix your warping floorboards.

I Have Pet Stains On My Hardwood Floors, Can You Fix It?
Pet accidents should be cleaned up as soon as they happen, if you can help it. If cleaning with the steps outlined in the next section doesn’t fix the problem area, then the urine has most likely soaked into your flooring and more serious hardwood floor restoration work will be required. We are confident in our ability to take care of most pet stains, but contact us to determine the severity of your stain.
What Do I Use To Clean Deep Stains On My Hardwood Floors?
White vinegar and water (1 part vinegar to 4 parts water). Prepare a spray bottle for little, everyday accidents and a bucket for the bigger stains. Scrub stains thoroughly. After you’re sure it’s clean, wipe it completely dry. Then, dry it again. Beware of ammonia in cleaners; pet urine actually contains ammonia, and if your pet smells the ammonia where they last had an accident, they are more likely to want to relieve themselves in that same spot next time.
Is Your Process Really Dust Free?
This process creates very little dust; equipment mounted vacuums eliminate most of the dust. What remains is a very light coating of dust on the floor. No airborne dust is generated, none. The remaining dust on the floor is vacuumed up, then the surface is cleaned with tack rags.
Is Your Process Odorless?

When it comes to resurfacing, we prioritize the use of environmentally friendly waterborne products that meet the Greenguard certification standards. This ensures that our process aligns with sustainable practices and minimizes any negative impact on air quality. Because of the quality products we employ, you should only smell a light, pleasant aroma when we’re finished.
